Tax Deductions for Freelancers

Tax time is here again and if you are like me, you try your best to get the most out of working as an independent. I gave up on doing my own taxes this last year with the additional complications of starting multiple businesses as well as real estate and other investments (gee, THAT was a great idea!)
While I have a good local CPA, Patel & Associates, I think it is always good to educate yourself on what types of deductions you should be taking. The laws change all the time and your accountant can only work with what you give them. Like grants for college, you can’t get what you don’t ask for.
Resources that I have found to be invaluable are NOLO, as well as the IRS website.
As a freelancer, there are other deductions available that you may not be aware of, including these 10 listed by Thursday Bram on Freelance Switch.
Please feel free to share deductions you have found that not everyone may be aware of.
